Year 3 are Egyptian Explorers

Year 3 have spent a whole day as Egyptian explorers, find out more here.

Year 3 have been learning about Ancient Egypt this half term and today came to school ready to be explorers and archaeologists! Lots of the children brought their binoculars or magnifying glasses with them, to help them look really closely at Egyptian artefacts.

The children all looked at what artefacts are and why they are useful to historians. They then made their own Scarab beetles, which they had discovered were often found with the Pharaohs in the Ancient Egyptian tombs.

Later, the children learnt about Hieroglyphics and managed to crack some Ancient Egyptian codes. They all wrote their own name in Hieroglyphics, with some children finding their names would have been very difficult to write in Ancient Egyptian times.

The children then went on a fact finding mission, learning things about the pyramids, the Pharaohs, hieroglyphics and famous Egyptians. Finally all of the children created their own pointillism inspired Egyptian patterns. They look great in our classrooms!
