After all the excitement of the Jubilee, it’s time to tell you about the next big weekend … the Oasis Together weekend.
From 24-26 June we’re asking all of Oasis to get together and get involved in celebrating community, having a little fun, and raising money for our community projects around the country.
Last year some of us did the Captain Tom 100 challenge, the year before we took part together in the 2.6 challenge. These both raised over £20k in one weekend, thanks to the sponsorship of friends and family!
So this year we’re asking whether you could take up a sponsored challenge or event to keep the fundraising going. Everyone is experiencing the pain of cost-of-living increases; in all of our communities people are being hit really hard, and demand for food and fuel support is increasing again. Anything we can do together to put more funding in the pot for our community work will make a difference.
What can you do?
From Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June, could you spare some time to take on a challenge? A sponsored walk, swim, a bake sale … all we ask is that you do it together! Get colleagues, family, friends, (or the whole community!) to join you. To give you some ideas … in previous years we’ve done remote relays (5k each x 50 people – thank you Oasis Academy South Bank!), half-marathons, hula-hooping, yoga poses, laps of the park, cycle rides, a London landmarks challenge.
How can you join in?
Visit https://www.oasisuk.org/oasistogether for the details. You can make a donation on the dedicated JustGiving page that’s linked from there, or use the Justgiving ‘fundraise for us’ link to set up your own sponsorship page. If you’d like to do something as a school community, get in touch and we can let you know how to give any cash you collect at school!
