Manchester Museum Comes to OA Clarksfield!

Manchester Museum brought their inflatable museum to Clarksfield and year three had a great day exploring.

Year three were really disappointed last half term when they discovered that parts of the Manchester Museum are closed, including the areas where the Ancient Egyptian artefacts are housed. Not to be beaten, the year three staff got straight on the phone and discovered that the Museum could come to school using their Inflatable Museum.

Today was the long awaited day of the visit! The museum was inflated in the hall and the artefacts were placed inside. The children were amazed by the sight of it. Inside they became 'museum explorers' and looked closely at real Ancient Egyptian artefacts to make their own conclusions about what they were and how they were used. They were then told the conclusions that historians have come to about the artefacts before they collaborated to create their own exhibits using iPads.

After school the museum was opened up to parents and children from other classes. Lots of parents and children came along to have a look and get involved in what the children have been learning, year three were very proud to be the experts and show their parents around.
