Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

British Science Week

This week at Oasis Academy Clarksfield we have all been becoming scientists by celebrating all things Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

The week kicked off with a day full of Science. All of the children had the opportunity to try four activities throughout the day.

In Reception the children spent the day investigating sound. They made loud sounds and quiet sounds and made their own instruments.

In Key Stage One the children made slime, made chemical reactions with vinegar and baking powder and made rainbow colour mixing milk.

In Years 3 and 4 the children tried to beat the world record for the longest Lego bridge, tested their taste buds, learnt about displacement of water by creating their own boats and made planes, gliders and giro-copters and tested how long they would remain airborne.

In years 5 and 6 the children created optical illusions and made thaumatropes.
