A Batty Surprise

On Wednesday Year Four had a batty surprise! They came back upstairs to find a new friend in their classroom.

A bat, who we think had been living in the roof of the building had managed to find his way into the building. It is thought he might have been disturbed by the noise from the building work, so the builders had to down tools until we had a man come out to check for bats, as they are a protected species.

Luckily the bat had decided to find somewhere new to live by the time the children came in on Thursday, we assume it had changed it's mind about living in a school full of noisy children! However Year Four were still really interested in it so their teachers decided to seize the moment and they had a very batty day on Thursday, learning all about bats and why they are protected and creating some amazing writing as you can see below!

We managed to catch some short videos of the bat whilst it was inside the building, which you can see on our social media pages.
