Extra Curricular Activities

Marvellous Mondays:

At Clarksfield, we believe that is important to provide all our children a range of experiences in addition to our curriculum offer.  To ensure children can benefit from extra-curricular activities all Teachers as well as several Learning Support Assistants run an after-school club every Monday; a dedicated afternoon of enrichment clubs designed to inspire, challenge and broaden experiences beyond the classroom. This enables us to offer every child within our academy a range of after school clubs all year round.

Our enrichment programme links directly to our 100 Clarksfield Pledge, ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and discover new interests in a fun and supportive environment.

Each half term children can select a club, so they are able to try a range of different activities across the year.  The offer of clubs changes across the year, with the aim being that children are able to meet as many of the statements of the ‘Clarksfield Pledge’ as possible and are able to learn and develop a range of new skills.

Music:

We are extremely proud of our high‑quality music provision, delivered in partnership with Oldham Music Service, which offers all pupils a rich and inclusive musical experience.

As part of our commitment to ensuring every child has access to music, all pupils learn to play two instruments by the time they leave Year 6. Through whole‑class teaching, children develop skills on the ukulele as well as a brass instrument, such as the cornet or tuba.

In addition, a select group of pupils are given the opportunity to further develop their musical talents beyond the whole‑class offer by extending their ukulele learning to include guitar tuition.

Music plays a vital role in supporting our pupils’ development. It has a positive impact on speech and language, helping children to improve listening skills, vocabulary and communication — an important focus for our school. Music also supports wellbeing, building confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement while allowing children to express themselves creatively.

Our music offer ensures every child experiences the joy, challenge and lifelong benefits of learning music.
