Oasis Encounter

What is Oasis Encounter?

Oasis Encounter is an eight-week programme which uses the principles of Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) to support parents and carers who may be struggling with any aspect of their child's behaviour. It also supports those parents or carers whose child is persistently absent from school or suffers with emotionally based school avoidance. Through our delivery we provide expert teaching, skills building and a significant amount of peer support as parents join live on zoom for an hour and a half each week. There is wrap around support midweek via our WhatsApp group and many parents continue to use this WhatsApp long after the course has ended. Have a look at the video on the website to find out more. www.oasisuk.org/oasis-encounter/

What do our parents say about Oasis Encounter?

"This was labelled to me as a parenting course from school which offended me, and I was apprehensive. It is no such thing. Everyone involved is lovely, kind and understanding and also some of them have issues with their own children which is really refreshing to hear and be given advice from professional people that actually do understand. I am ending this course feeling like I am a different kind of parent, and I have a different child. The dynamic is different and calmer, and we are both much happier. School attendance is more than it’s ever been. Thank you so much to all involved"

"I cannot tell you how much I have needed this course and the support given. As a single parent I have found the supportive tribe element comforting and I have looked forward to my Mondays every week. The coaches have been great but not patronising or judgement.  They have all been great and I couldn't be more thankful."

What difference does Oasis Encounter make?

Parents who attended Oasis Encounter last term found their wellbeing improved, their ability to manage their child's behaviour improved, their family life was better and their child's attendance at school improved. We need to be shouting about Encounter from the roof tops!! In 8 of our families, we saw an average increase of 60% in their child's attendance!
