 EYFS Profile

Assessment throughout Early Years is conducted through observations. The staff make systematic observations of each child’s achievements, interests and learning styles. These are then used to identify learning priorities and plan the next stages in the learning experiences for the child.

Some observations that are considered “Wow Moments” – new learning, a new skill, something the child is really proud of – are shared via the child’s online learning journey on Tapestry. When your child begins Reception with us, you will be given log in details to set up your Tapestry account. For any help or queries please contact the Early Years Lead Erica Philburn on 0161 213 1235.

The EYFS Profile is completed by a child’s teacher in the final term of their reception year.

Children’s level of development are assessed against the 17 early learning goals set out in the EYFS. Children are assessed as either expected, if they are meeting expected levels of development, or as ‘emerging’ if they are not yet reaching expected levels and are assessed as ‘emerging’. The purpose of this is to support a successful transition to year 1.

There are 12 areas of learning which children must achieve ‘expected’ to for them to assessed as achieving a good level of development (GLD).
